Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium Funding for schools is additional funding provided by the Government. The Pupil Premium Funding is designed to address inequalities between children eligible for the funding and their peers; all schools that receive the funding have a responsibility to ensure that it reaches the pupils who need it most.

Nationally, statistics show that students who are in receipt of the Pupil Premium Funding do less well than their peers in external examinations. The aim of this additional funding is to diminish that attainment difference.

At Wellfield School, we view the needs of all our students as important and strive to create the best opportunities and experiences for all students. The Pupil Premium Funding has enabled us to fully fund, as well as subsidise, key initiatives within the Academy which have been designed to improve the academic progress, social development and cultural experiences of our more disadvantaged students. For more information on what the Pupil Premium Funding is, student eligibility and the strategies we use to support our most disadvantaged students, please refer to our documents below.
