We are proud to announce that our Maths department were runners up for the Lord Glenamara Memorial Prize 2019/20. This is a huge achievement, and we’re sure you’ll agree that our Maths department always ‘Go the Extra Mile’ and are well deserving of this award.

The Lord Glenamara Memorial Awards recognise North East pupils achieving academic and technical excellence as well as dedicating themselves to the service of others in their schools and the wider community. They also recognise the most inspiring teachers and other education professionals who are helping to ensure that young people in the North East achieve their potential.
The Wellfield Maths team were runner up in the Excellence in Maths category, as judged by the Department for Education and Cambridge University.

The award was introduced by the Department for Education in 2012, in memory of former Education Secretary and Newcastle MP, Ted Short.
