Dear Parent/Carer
I am writing to dispel any fears or rumours regarding possible illness linked to Coronavirus following the return of students from our annual ski trip to Italy.
Wellfield School students visited the ski resort of Pila located in the Valle d’Aosta region from 2nd to 8th February. This was before any concerns were raised over any issues in Italy. The ski resort of Pila is located 22 miles from Courmayeur and the Mt. Blanc tunnel in north west Italy on the Italian/French border. This area of Italy is located over 150 miles from the regions of Lombardy and Veneto. These are the illness affected areas of northern Italy which have recently been identified and publicised in the press.
We returned from Italy on Sunday 9th February before any outbreaks of the virus were reported in Italy. We have no concerns regarding the health of any students or staff.
We have contacted the ski company with regard to the situation in the Valle d’Aosta region of Italy and have received written confirmation from the Regional Government of the Valle d’Aosta and the regional health authority, dated the 24th February, explaining that there are no cases, nor suspicion of cases, of Coronavirus in the Valle d’Aosta region. I have enclosed a copy of the press release statement from the regional government in Valle d’Aosta.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs. L. Rodham
Head teacher
