What a wonderful results day! I think everyone who attended yesterday, students, parents or staff found it a happy if not emotional day. I could not have ordered better weather, the sun was shining, fortunate for us because we organised our day outside in order for parents to attend.
Mr Potts was in fine voice, stage managing the morning, Mrs West made some delicious cupcakes, and staff formed a guard of honour and clapped every student entering to collect their results. All of this with regard the Covid – 19 guidance. Not an easy task but we didn’t let it spoil the day.
We were delighted to see students because we have missed them and this was reciprocated by many students. Nearly five years together, we all needed to say goodbye and wish them well on the next stage of their educational journey.
Now for some headlines. To say I am proud of our students is an understatement. For the fourth year we have GCSE outcomes that are above average.
78% of our students achieved a grade 4 or better in both English and Mathematics. The English results are impressive with 83% of students gaining a grade 4 or higher and 62% gaining a grade 5 or higher. The mathematics results were equally impressive with 83% of students gaining a grade 4 or higher and 65% gaining a grade 5 or higher.
Ten grade 9’s (exceptional performance) were awarded in mathematics and eight in English.
A full analysis of the results will be on the website as soon as possible which will include all subjects and the BTECS, the results of which we are still waiting to be released. We will post BTEC results as soon as we receive them.
Whilst most students have achieved personal success I would like to mention following success stories:
Leila Presho: 8 grade 9, 2 grade 8 (Top student for attainment)
Poppy Goodliffe: 6 grade 9, 3 grade 8, 1 grade 7.
Max Kennedy: 2 grade 9, 6 grade 8, 2 grade 7
Grace Hurworth: 2 grade 9, 5 grade 8, 2 grade 7
Joshua Killingley: 4 grade 9, 1 grade 8, 3 grade 7, 1 grade 6.
Paige Welsh: 1 grade 8, 2 grade 5, 3 grade 6, 3 BTECs (Top student for progress)
We had a great results day and good luck to all of our class of 2020.
